After saying that I work primarily in oils I suddenly decided to set up an annexe to my studio and do some experimental work in acrylics. Please see the resulting canvasses in my Gallery. They are much smaller than my usual work being 8″ x 8″ and they rely very much on hazard. In this way I feel they are related to the work of Max Ernst, who some would consider the father of Surrealism. In some of his paintings he used a form of automatism, relying on hazard and the sub-conscious. I will be talking about my works later but in the meantime it’s back to oils!
